Stormy-Annika Mildner is the executive director at the Aspen Institute Germany and a Geoeconomics Non-Resident Senior Fellow at AICGS. She was Sherpa of the Business 20 (B20), the official Engagement Partner of the German G20 Presidency and Head of the External Economic Policy Department at the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
In this recently published working paper from the project “New Systemic Risks: Challenges and Opportunities for Transatlantic Cooperation,” Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) Project Director and AGI Non-Resident Fellow Dr. Stormy-Annika Mildner presents the most recent product of this cooperative project between SWP and AGI. Authored by Julia Howald, Stormy-Annika Mildner, Max M. Mutschler, Brittany Sammon, Vanessa Vaughn, Marian Vogel, the paper is titled “Transatlantic Risk Governance Survey: Risk Averse Germans and Risk Friendly Americans?”
The authors detail a survey of German and American decision-makers in business, thinks tanks, and academia. Finding slight support for the thesis that U.S. actors are more risk takers and Europeans risk averse, the authors highlight the commonalities and differences between both groups, but note not only that German respondents do not necessarily represent European preferences, but also that other discrepancies in the distribution of respondents proves to be a limitation.
