Chairman and CEO, PPG

Michael McGarry is chairman and chief executive officer of PPG. In his four decades at PPG and six years as CEO, he has helped transform the company into a highly focused, global leader in paints, coatings, and specialty materials. Under his leadership, PPG has grown its operations through several transformative acquisitions that have expanded the company’s products, technologies and global reach. Today, the company operates in more than 75 countries, with sales in more than 140, and its market capitalization has risen to $39 billion.

McGarry currently serves on the Board of Directors of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and the Allegheny Conference on Community and Development.

A native of New Orleans, McGarry is a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Texas and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Bowling Green

Black tie optional means that male guests are invited to wear tuxes and women may wear evening gowns or cocktail dresses — what you would wear at a black-tie affair — but you don’t have to. It’s fine for men to wear nice dark suits and for women to wear dresses that aren’t necessarily Oscar-night material.

The Dinner runs until about 10pm.
