DAAD Alumni Networking Reception

April 1, 2011

Opening remarks were made by Dr. Melinda Crane, herself a DAAD Alumna, who touched on transatlantic relations, German-American affairs, and the role of the media. The reception, generously sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), gave former DAAD/AGI Fellows and friends of the Institute the opportunity to engage with each other, expand their German-American networks, and continue to strengthen the transatlantic relationship in an informal setting.

Dr. Melinda Crane has given speeches and moderated events and discussions for a wide range of international organizations and firms. She is a frequent guest and commentator on German television and radio and regularly analyzes U.S. policy for the news broadcaster n-tv. An experienced TV anchor, she is chief political correspondent at DW TV and also hosts the Deutsche Welle talk show “Quadriga” as well as the political magazine “People and Politics.” Dr. Crane studied history and political science at Brown University and law at Harvard University. She received her Ph.D. in political economy at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
