Meis Alkhafaji

Meis Alkhafaji is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Erlangen. Meis’ concentration is in intergovernmental relations, foreign policies, and Middle Eastern Studies. Meis is also a member of the Junge Islam Konferenz (JIK) and responsible for creating and planning events, such as the annual national conference and the “JIK Talks,” a public event where young people discuss Islam-related topics with experts from politics, science, and civil society. Her additional JIK-related activities include the independent organization of an anti-discrimination workshop for youth in Bavaria, as well as the planning of an educational excursion to the memorial site and former concentration camp Dachau, to increase awareness about the consequences of discrimination and violence against minorities and historic responsibility as German citizens.

She is a 2019 participant in AGI’s “Transatlantic Young Leadership Program: Giving Voice to Diversity,” sponsored by the AT&T Foundation.
