Billal Higo

Munich University of Applied Sciences

Billal Higo is currently pursuing a master’s degree in “Intercultural Communication and Cooperation” at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, in addition to working full-time at the Munich airport. He is a first-generation Arabic-speaking German Muslim with Eritrean and Ethiopian roots and is a recipient of three scholarships, including the “Deutschlandstiftung Integration” which is under the auspices of German chancellor Angela Merkel.

Billal is involved in eleven honorary offices, such as the SIETAR (Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research), as an intercultural trainer, and as an initiator and organizer of a charity school construction project in Ethiopia. Due to the success of this project, he was invited to a panel discussion on the topic “Germany’s Role in International Development Aid in Africa” with former president Horst Köhler. For his numerous social commitments, he was also awarded a certificate by the German president Christian Wulff.

He is a 2019 participant in AGI’s “Transatlantic Young Leadership Program: Giving Voice to Diversity,” sponsored by the AT&T Foundation.
