Program Coordinator
AGI is seeking a Program Coordinator to manage its events, conferences, seminars, exchanges, and meetings that take place in Germany and the United States, including the annual Global Leadership Award Dinner; assist in the coordination of AGI grants; coordinate the AGI Internship Program; and contribute research support in AGI’s three program areas.
Position Description
The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating logistical and administrative details of all events, ranging from webinars to conferences and fundraising events. This includes drafting invitation texts for review by the Program Directors, distributing invitations and publicizing events, posting events on the AGI website, making travel and hotel arrangements for speakers/participants, ordering catering, coordinating all day-of logistics, writing event summaries, and requesting reimbursement and honoraria payments. The Program Coordinator works closely with the President and the Program Directors and contributes to AGI’s three program areas with research support, event summaries, and original analysis.
The Program Coordinator co-manages the Institute’s Internship Program, which includes selecting, supervising, and offering guidance to 2-3 interns each semester. He/she also assists in organizing the logistics of the Global Leadership Award Dinner, AGI’s annual fundraising gala held in New York City.
Qualifications for the Position
The preferred qualifications for the position include a bachelor’s degree in international relations or a related field with an interest in and knowledge of Germany’s political, cultural, economic, and/or security affairs. Event management experience is a prerequisite for the position. The candidate must have excellent organizational, communication (written/verbal), management, and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, competency with digital platforms). Knowledge of the German language is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, efficient, extremely well-organized, independent, hard-working, and reliable, with excellent attention to detail. The candidate must be flexible to perform the diverse range of tasks required of a small organization and enjoy working in a small team. He/she must have strong interpersonal skills, take initiative, demonstrate innovative thinking, and be able to establish and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and constituents. Occasional travel and evening hours may be required.
Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and education, with starting offers from $50,000 to $55,000. AGI offers all staff the option of a hybrid work schedule and a competitive benefits package. AGI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
