Finding German-American Solutions to International Problems

In recent years, we have seen a growing public rift in the relationship between the U.S. and Germany, despite a long history of cooperation and respect. Yet behind the scenes, a dedicated group of transatlanticists is working to ensure that the relationship remains robust, ready and able to respond to the shared challenges we face today. Understanding the domestic and political challenges each country faces is part of preserving the relationship, as is recognizing the opportunities for greater collaboration on the world stage.

Please join AGI for a conference to discuss the most pressing issues for the German-American relationship today. Speakers will be young Americans and Germans who will share their unique perspective on a range of issues from climate and energy policy, to populism, terrorism, reconciliation, the digital economy, and international trade.

The AGI project “A German-American Dialogue of the Next Generation: Global Responsibility, Joint Engagement” engages young Americans and Germans in discussions of current issues of concern for the transatlantic relationship. The project participants are young leaders in a variety of fields who have been working together for several months in three groups representing the AGI Program Areas (Foreign & Domestic Policy; Society, Culture & Politics; and Geoeconomics) with the intent to frame and deliberate on the issues and create solutions to a variety of global challenges facing the United States and Germany. This conference highlights the results of the participants’ work.
