Transatlantic Cybersecurity Partnership Experts’ Workshop
The Academy for Politics and Current Affairs of the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the American-German Institute at the Johns Hopkins University have established a Transatlantic Cybersecurity Partnership. To promote a common approach, the Transatlantic Cybersecurity Partnership will establish a German-American working group, consisting of both German and American policymakers, representatives from relevant state institutions, think tank scholars and representatives from the private sector. The partnership aims to improve information-sharing between the Germany and the United States on key cyber threats; increase understanding between the private sector and government entities on best practices for ensuring cybersecurity; expand the research on solutions to cybersecurity threats; move the legislative and policy conversation in both countries to ensure budgets, standards, infrastructure, early warning and risk management systems are in place to protect national and international security.
The focus of the first expert meeting in Munich is the implications of cybersecurty threats particularly stemming from cyberwarfare and digital propaganda. The members of the working group are developing policy recommendations, which will be published and made available for both German and American policymakers as well as the general public.
