The Schaeffler Bigband
|
The Schaeffler Bigband is comprised of 26 musically talented Schaeffler employees. Originally, the band was formed to celebrate the farewell of a co-worker. After that performance, their reputation and success spread, and in 2005, led to the formation of the Schaeffler Bigband.
This group of musicians, led by the musical director Peter Wirkner, has established a broad and sophisticated repertoire. With musical talent, discipline, and joy, the Schaeffler Bigband developed its own special style and tone. Today, the group has achieved recognition and fans, even beyond the borders of Germany.
Their repertoire includes titles from the swing-era, classical music, as well as songs from musicals, rock, and pop. The ensemble captivates the audience with its varied program.
We hope you will enjoy an evening of music performed in honor of Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler-Thumann. |

AGI inaugurated the Global Leadership Award (GLAD) in 1994 as part of the Institute’s mission to foster stronger ties between the United States and Germany. The Award recognizes the achievements of business leaders who, through their personal and professional accomplishments, have helped strengthen the close partnership between Germany and the United States. The Award is presented in the fall at a gala dinner in New York which is also the Institute’s principal annual fundraising event. Guests at the gala include hundreds of top-level corporate executives, political figures, diplomats, NGO leaders, and members of the academic community, making this event a “celebration” of German-American partnership in the truest sense.
The gala dinner is underwritten principally by individual and corporate sponsors. Net proceeds from the event provide a substantial portion of the funding for the Institute’s scholarly programs. Sponsors receive invitations to the Dinner, on-site acknowledgements, complimentary advertising opportunities, and other benefits. Sponsorship fees are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law in both Germany and the United States. Sponsorship is also an effective way for a company to publicize its support for a stronger German-American partnership before an important audience of corporate and government leaders who care deeply about this relationship.
