AGI “Social Divisions and Questions of Identity” Participants win IW Prize for International Activities

Matthias Diermeier and Ruth Schüler have received the IW Prize for International Activities, recognizing their participation in politically relevant and interdisciplinary discussions through AGI’s project, “Social Divisions and Questions of Identity in Germany and the United States.” Matthias Diermeier visited Akron, Ohio, and Chemnitz, Saxony, in the project’s first year, and Ruth Schüler participated in the second year, visiting Buffalo, New York, and Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. They have also written an article on deindustrialization in the United States and Germany based on their study tours with AGI.

The IW Awards honor employees of the German Economic Institute for their achievements in scientific publications, international activities, and communication achievements. The German Economic Institute (Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft, IW) is a private economic research center in Cologne.
