Welcome Dinner and Discussion with Ambassador Michaelis
German Ambassador to the United States Andreas Michaelis has taken up his duties on August 1, representing one of the United States’ closest allies in Washington, DC. Ambassador Michaelis served previously as State Secretary in the German Foreign Office, the highest-ranking career position in that ministry – a position he held twice. He brings a wealth of experience and a broad perspective, having also served as German Ambassador in London and in Tel Aviv, as Political Director, and in many other senior roles.
The American partnership with Germany is crucial, whether in responding to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, in strengthening transatlantic security, or in shaping the future of the global economy. The American-German Institute is honored to host this private dinner welcoming Ambassador Michaelis.
This event provided an opportunity for Ambassador Michaelis to share his observations on the international situation as he begins his tenure in Washington, as well as Germany’s vision for developing its relations with the United States.
