As the idea of globalization experiences increasing contention, avenues for advancing shared transatlantic values and interests in areas like climate, technology, and supply chains are gaining attention. During this event, participants had the opportunity to discuss the Biden administration’s priorities for working with Germany and the European Union to renew the transatlantic and broader global trade operating system.

Heather Hurlburt is the Chief of Staff at the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Most recently, she directed the New Models of Policy Change project at New America’s Political Reform program. Before joining New America, she held senior positions in conflict prevention and international affairs advocacy; served in the Clinton Administration as a speechwriter and member of the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning staff, and as a Special Assistant and speechwriter to President Bill Clinton; and worked on Capitol Hill and on the U.S. Delegation to the OSCE. She is a co-founder of the Leadership Council for Women in National Security, serves on the board of Saferworld USA, and holds degrees from Brown and George Washington Universities.
