Transatlantic Young Leadership Program
Giving Voice to Diversity
This program has been postponed in response to the growing challenges of the COVID-19 crisis. Due to the ongoing pandemic, dates for this exchange are not yet finalized.
AGI’s “Transatlantic Young Leadership Program: Giving Voice to Diversity” addresses the theme “Immigration, Integration, and a New Transatlantic Generation.” As part of this initiative, ten diverse young leaders will take part in a seminar and site visits in Nuremberg and Munich, Germany, to discuss migration and integration in both the United States and Germany.
This program, sponsored by the AT&T Foundation, will foster new connections between these young leaders and address challenges facing immigrants worldwide. Discussions about societal integration and leadership, political engagement, and self-identity as an immigrant will foster pivotal experiences for both the youth leaders and those they interact with.
AGI has three primary objectives for the program:
- to deepen public understanding of the issues and concerns of the largest populations in Germany and the United States that have an immigration background;
- to build and sustain a network of young leaders committed to transatlantic relations; and
- to give voice to emerging young leaders with an immigration background.
Activities comprise a seminar and site visits in Nuremberg and Munich. Participants will work with each other and leading experts from minority umbrella organizations, government, research facilities, and political institutions. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit other locations including cultural/historical sites, offices of elected representatives, and non-profit associations that focus on issues affecting marginalized communities.
