Roundtable Discussion on China and the Transatlantic Business Community
On November 13, 2019, the Representative of German Industry and Trade (RGIT) and the American-German Institute (AGI) hosted an off-the-record roundtable discussion moderated by Peter Rashish, Senior Fellow and Director of the Geoeconomics Program at AGI. As the U.S. and Europe continue to tackle the systemic challenges posed by China, trade tensions and economic uncertainty are of increasing concern for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. How are companies navigating these issues and where can the transatlantic business community work together to support a constructive approach on China? Friedolin Strack, Head of the Department of International Markets at the Federation of German Industries (BDI), also Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business, and Jacob Parker, Senior Vice President at the US-China Business Council (USCBC) shared their insights and perspectives on these questions and engaged in discussion with participants.
