Dinner with Martin Blessing
The AGI Business & Economics Program was pleased to host a private dinner with Martin Blessing, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors at Commerzbank. Mr. Blessing talked about the impact that the yet-to-be-completed banking union is already having on the industry’s risk culture and banks’ business models. He also focused on the interplay between monetary policies and structural reforms in member countries of the European Monetary Union and talk about the ongoing efforts to spur investments and growth.
Mr. Martin Blessing serves as Chairman of the Management Board at Commerzbank AG since May 15, 2008. Mr. Blessing joined Commerzbank as Member of the Management Board Responsible for Corporate Banking of the Company in October 2001. Before coming to Commerzbank, Mr. Blessing served as Chairman of the Board of Advance Bank (Munich). He joined Advance Bank coming from Dresdner Bank (Frankfurt) in 2001 where he had been a Joint Manager responsible for Private Customers for three years. Mr. Blessing started his career as a consultant at McKinsey in both Frankfurt and New York, and in 1994 became a partner at the firm. Mr. Blessing studied Business Administration at the University of Frankfurt and the University of St. Gallen, receiving his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1988.
