The Potential of Linking Quality of Medical Care with Payment Structures in the German and U.S. Health Care Systems

December 9, 2011

This expert discussion will begin with an introduction into the German payment system and how quality assessment is currently working. The morning will focus on pay for performance in an international context, what evidence there is to support pay for performance and what problems have arisen, and the participants will then discuss how a potential application in Germany might work. After a luncheon, the afternoon will center on the trajectory in the U.S. and Germany on payment reform and how pay for performance would fit into the larger picture.
