Gustavo López

University of California, San Diego

Gustavo López is a Master of Public Policy candidate at the University of California, San Diego’s School of Global Policy & Strategy. He is also a graduate student researcher at the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies (CCIS) where he researches immigration enforcement and discrimination against Mexican immigrants. Gustavo recently completed an internship with the International Office for Migration’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre in Berlin. Previously, he worked as a research analyst at the Pew Hispanic Center where he analyzed U.S. and global migration trends, public opinion, and other demographic data related to Latinos and immigrant groups. Gustavo has presented his research before Mexico’s National Commission of Human Rights and was awarded a grant to study asylum policies at the U.S.-Mexico border. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science from Purdue University. He is originally from Jalisco, Mexico.

He is a 2019 participant in AGI’s “Transatlantic Young Leadership Program: Giving Voice to Diversity,” sponsored by the AT&T Foundation.
