Support AGI on #GivingTuesday
What is “#GivingTuesday”? After a series of specially-labeled shopping days—Black Friday, Cyber Monday—#GivingTuesday is a day intended to kick-off the charitable season. Since its inception in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, the campaign has inspired charitable actions and donations in over 150 countries.
#GivingTuesday donations mean a lot to AGI. Since 2015, we have been able to use small and large donations to fund the rebuilding of our website, to upgrade equipment for our researchers, and to support our programs. Our small team of dedicated staff has a big impact. In the past year, we have:
- hosted experts in the areas of economics and trade, social policy, immigration and integration, security and defense, cyber policy, and diplomacy in conferences and seminars to exchange ideas and develop solutions to today’s challenges;
- welcomed 11 fellows in Washington to encourage open research discourse between our two countries;
- engaged 26 young diverse leaders and 7 expert practitioners in deep discussions about migration, identity, integration, and social divisions, holding these discussions around the country from Akron, OH, to Minneapolis, MN, to Fayetteville, AR;
- facilitated meetings and research by 24 young transatlantic leaders on a variety of topics from populism to security to digital policy;
- produced 12 podcast episodes;
- published over 130 articles and news items and 11 in-depth research reports.
Our research agenda identifies the areas of greatest interest to the German-American relationship, where the two partners can learn from each other, and where they can act together to address global challenges. This includes: geoeconomics and trade, workforce training, defense cooperation, cyber policy, dialogue on China, election dynamics, immigration and integration policies, historical memory, and fostering the next generation of transatlantic leaders.
