New York, NY, October 30, 2025 – The American-German Institute (AGI) honored Joe Kaeser, Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of Siemens Energy AG and Daimler Truck Holding AG, with its 2025 Global Leadership Award at a gala dinner on October 29 in New York City. The award recognizes Mr. Kaeser’s commitment to leadership and the transatlantic partnership.

Mr. Kaeser has over forty years of experience at Siemens AG, where he has held a variety of leading management positions in finance and strategy, including as President and Chief Executive Officer from 2013 until 2021. During his tenure, Mr. Kaeser led the transformation of Siemens into three standalone public companies. Out of a one-size-fits-all conglomerate, he created three focused and adaptive companies: the “new” Siemens AG now focused on the industrial metaverse and smart infrastructure, Siemens Energy AG, and Siemens Healthineers AG, resulting in significant value creation. This move is still considered the biggest transformation in recent German corporate history.

He is also a Supervisory Board Member at Linde plc and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum. He was a longtime Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Munich Security Conference.

“Mr. Kaeser knows that companies must be strong in order to contribute to our societies, and he has built robust business models throughout his career,” said Georg Schaeffler, Chairman of the AGI Board of Trustees. “His engagement with the World Economic Forum and Munich Security Conference is a reminder of his commitment to international security and the transatlantic bond and the importance for all of us to invest in a broad and strong transatlantic relationship.” Mr. Kaeser joins AGI’s list of distinguished Global Leadership Award recipients.

“Companies can contribute to the welfare of society in a sustainable way, but they are operating in an increasingly fragmented and unstable environment,” said Mr. Kaeser. “The American-German Institute’s analysis and policy expertise allow businesses to understand the transatlantic economic environment in order to operate from a position of strength.”

H. Lawrence Culp, Chairman & CEO of GE Aerospace, presented Mr. Kaeser with the award. “Siemens is to Germany what GE is to America,” said Mr. Culp. “With both our companies’ histories so closely entwined, Joe and I have had the privilege of leading our teams through two of the most historic business transformations in our countries’ histories. The competition between our companies has pushed both Siemens and GE to be better, to innovate faster, and to deliver more value to our customers, our industries, and the world.” Sponsors of the 31st Global Leadership Award Dinner include, among others, Accenture, Commerzbank, Daimler Truck, and Siemens Energy.

AGI inaugurated the Global Leadership Award in 1994 as part of the Institute’s mission to strengthen ties between the United States and Germany. The Award recognizes the achievements of business and government leaders who have advanced the transatlantic partnership. Germany is a key partner of the United States in its most important international relationships: in transatlantic trade, within the NATO security alliance, and beyond.
