DAAD/AGI Fellow Dr. Dominik Tolksdorf has recently published a book entitled Die EU und Bosnien-Herzegowina.

A short description of the book:

Bosnia and Herzegovina still represents a major challenge for the European Union’s foreign policy. In the framework of its enlargement policy and the Common Foreign and Security Policy, the EU has in the past ten years deployed several actors to the country. Thus, the EU has applied various tools and policy approaches in order to stabilize the country and to prepare it for EU membership. The central question of the study is whether the EU has been able to act coherently and to meet its ambition as a motor of reform in Bosnia. As the first comprehensive analysis of the EU’s policies in Bosnia, the book examines the European support for the fight against organized crime, police reform and constitutional reform in the country. Based on numerous interviews with stakeholders in Bosnia, Brussels and the member states’ capitals and the first assessment of relevant EU documents, the book gives a precise insight into the practical implementation and the challenges of the EU’s foreign policy.
